A new habit of mine is to add fresh herbs to our salad greens. Each type offers an added health benefit and brings more variety to your meal, which from a nutritional standpoint is critical for protecting yourself against disease. There is a pre-made herb and lettuce mix at the grocery store, but doing it yourself takes seconds and boosts the freshness and flavor factors. My favorite additions are parsley, cilantro, and mint. Parsley may offer anticancer effects, cilantro may help control blood sugar, and mint is soothing to the digestive system.
On day 20 of this 365 day project, I ate my daily five (including a colorful bowl of strawberries, mangoes, and blueberries representing half of the rainbow in a single serving). Did you enjoy yours?
